Henderson Centre: Photosynthesis performed by a building
James Law Cybertecture's project not only looks like a leaf, but also behaves like one: it absorbs the sun and the rain and transforms them into energy to keep the building running: PHOTOSYNTHESIS!
It integrates a GSHP cooling system that takes in or rejects earth heat depending on existing temperature. It also uses a solar cooling system that heats up water and transforms it into thermal energy that cools the air down.
The leaf-shaped roof drives rain waters down to a deposit in the south-eastern side. From there, the water is filtered and distributed for different purposes: toilet flushing, cleaning, landscape irrigation,…
The organic look of a green leaf minimises the visual impact in the context of a naturally green surrounding.
